Child Motorcycle Safety is Essential

If you love to ride your motorcycle, it's a safe bet that your kids want to get in on the act as well. It can be a lot of fun for a child to ride on a motorcycle with you, and you're sure to want to share your passion for the open road with them, but safety is of course, an important consideration. What age should your kid be before you take them out with you? Are there special types of equipment you must buy? These are important questions that you will need answered before you can make the right decisions for your family.

The first question is whether or not your child is old enough to ride. Quick rule of thumb: If they can't walk, don't put them on the bike. Seriously though, never put an infant or toddler on a bike, they will be in grave danger if you get into an accident. A good rule for whether your child is old enough to ride with you is if they can ride a two wheeler independently and well. If they are able to hold and balance there, you will be able to teach them to hold on and balance on a bike.

When you've established that your kids are the right age to ride, you are going to have to go get them all motorcycle gear to ensure full child motorcycle safety. They'll need to same type of gear that you use, in order to stay safe out there on the road. Because children grow so fast, they'll also outgrow their expensive gear. A good plan is to find other families that like to ride, and arrange gear swaps so that your kids will all always have the right stuff. Just don't swap helmets, since old helmets are unsafe!

What kids of gear will your kids need? First off, they are going to need a helmet. Especially for a child, a full face helmet is best. This will mean that should you ever crash, their face is protected fully. You will also be providing them protection for their ears from the noise of their bike, and for their eyes and the skin of their face from UV rays, both of which are very important. Always make sure that the helmet fits well and is comfortable for the child.

There are many other pieces of gear you will need to ensure child motorcycle safety. At a minimum, your child will need gloves, a thick riding jacket, riding pants, and boots. All of these items should be made of leather, or other materials that are safety rated for motorcycle riding. You will also want to make sure that each item fits your child properly, to ensure maximum safety.

Child motorcycle safety is essential before you hit the open road with your kids, but once you make sure you've got safe gear, you're good to go. So follow this guide before you all head out on your first ride, and be rest assured that your kids are taken care of.

New Baby? How to Keep Friends and Family Up to Date

You can easily keep friends and family that live far away up to date with your baby's progress using the power of the Internet. With most people having Internet access these days, you will find it easy to keep everyone updated at once, which is easier and less time consuming than writing multiple letters.

Even if you don't want to share your baby's pictures and progress with the world, you can start a blog and keep it private, telling just those who you want to keep in the loop what the password is. You can upload pictures and videos of your baby and write short posts about your baby's progress. Sharing the things that make you laugh and cry with the people you love and that love you will help distant relatives and friends feel closer to you and your baby and it is a great way to keep in touch.

You can do this for free by using one of the free blogging sites or you can set up your own domain if you like. Either way, you have control of who sees the pictures and information you post so you don't have to worry about your baby's face being plastered all over the Internet. Some people use Facebook to post family photos on and you may want to do that instead of a blog. Look around at your Internet options and see which platform would best suit your needs. Your friends and family will look forward to logging on to your site to see the latest news about your baby and it will just take a few minutes once a week or however often you would like to update it.

Pets and Children

When I was in the eight-month of my pregnancy, we bought an English bulldog puppy. It was nine years ago and I remember that we couldn't wait for our child to be born. We had to get something small to hold and love. By the way, they are the cutest puppies of all. We couldn't go anywhere without people stopping us to see, hold and touch him.

To get back to the story, when we took him to our home, we have realized that it wasn't such a good idea. He was tiny and didn't want to be alone. He wanted to sleep only with us, on our bed. We tried to put him in his little bed, bought specially for him, but he was crying all the time. We gave up and let him sleep with us just to be able to get any sleep at all. He also, wasn't trained to go in the toilet, then he was chewing everything, from shoes to tables and walls. But all that paid off when I think about that now.

When our baby came, he was sleeping nowhere but beside him. Wherever our baby was, car seat, cot bed, pushchair or couch, he was there. The real benefits we could see from when our boy was around one year old. Our baby was pulling his face when he came close to him, but our dog was so patient. They were playing outside, on the grass, as they were two kids or two dogs. We never had to worry about my dog hurting my child because they grow up together, literally. It was perfect.

Today we have a healthy nine-year-old boy that was never ill from something serious. I am sure that it is in connection with being with a dog (who was taking a bath on a regular, normal basis) who helped him develop a good immune system. This is not just for saying something but he is great with animals, he is very compassionate. He, actually, has a problem with his younger brother who is almost three, and is not very gentle, not to animals but to anything. That will pass when he gets older.

Unfortunately, our dog is not with us anymore and getting another one should be thought through. If we want a small puppy than we must wait for our younger boy to get older few years, just to be on the safe ground for both sakes.

This is nice story but also a recommendation to other parents who are not totally against fact of children and pets together. It is only about benefits for your kids, growing up with animal. Of course, you can and you should choose a pet that fits your family and than you can be sure that you will all enjoy.

Beto Standard Baby Bicycle Seat - CCS-003

Beto Standard Baby Bicycle Seat - CCS-003 Review

I was hesitant to purchase this bike seat as it did not have any reviews but I liked the fact that it had the handle bars for the baby to hold on to and it was reasonably priced for the short time priod she would be able to use it. My baby, Samantha, loved it! The seat was not too difficult to install once we finally identifed the correct Allen wrenches. I would definitely recommend it.

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier Review

I read all the reviews and figured the price was good and we were specifically looking for a rear mounted seat for my bike, so we gave this one a try. After an inital VERY frustratiing try of getting it on my bike, we figured out that if you flipped the lower clamp pieces onto the outside of the mounting bar, it will fit some wider bikes, like mine. We tested it out and it's safe and works great. My daughter is 2 and loves riding in it! The only problem is that it puts her to sleep and then she can't really lean back b/c of her helmet, so her head flops around a little. Nothing a small pillow wedged in the safety bar won't fix! So far...a fun little seat at a good price!

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier Feature

  • Carries one child up to 40 pounds
  • Rear reflector included
  • Fits most 26- and 27-inch bikes (without rear suspension)
  • Thick seat pad and high back will keep your little one comfortable on the ride

Easy install, not an easy ride - Leah C. Dion -
This seat was easy to put together. Easy to install on the bike frame. The only 2 problems that I have with this seat is : 1) The padding under my sons butt is lacking. Very hard ride for him. 2) The straps that go up and around his shoulders are not very comfortable.
Besides these two issues...Great product and MUCH cheaper than other models looked at.

Mounting? - M Loreto - Sao Paulo, Brazil
It didn't even pass the initial setup.... there are too many flexible points, all mounted with screws that are in the very limit of size and then, in the end... the system do not fit in the bike, besides looking very unstable. I regret not having seen the reviews before I spent part of my weekend on it, and now I have to return it.

Bad, cheaply made product with useless support - Erin Oechsle - Indiana
My wife just got this car seat and I am now going to the hardware store to buy adaptors so that the seat will fit at least one of our Schwinn bikes. The car seat ended up with the car seat handle hanging over the bike seat. For about 5 cents more of metal it would have fit. Also, the bolts were of poor quality and stripped when installing so I am buying new bolts already. I will spend more on 'rigging' this car seat so it works than what it would have cost to buy a nice one from a real bike store and not a cheap mass retail importer. I think it will be safe once I modify it all. What a joke of a product though.

I returned it - D. Moya - houston, tx
The instructions for the rack were useless, in the end I don't think the rack fit my Jamis hybrid anyway. The top and bottom parts of the seat did not fit together because a part of the plastic where the seat connects seemed to be made poorly. The box I received the chair in looked like it had been returned several times. It was very beat up, taped up, and looked old.

What is a Pocket Bike?

If you have heard people talking about pocket bikes, and are unsure what they are, this article will help to set you straight. We will be discussing why the small pocket bike has become so attractive in recent times, I will give you a brief overview of what the bike is and what they are used for. After reading this, we will have more of an idea of what people are talking about when they refer to the pocket bike.

In this day and age, things seem to be getting smaller and smaller. For example, the mobile phone, which used to be the size of two bricks, is now small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Likewise, as children, we used to walk around with large CD Walkmen to play our music on, nowadays, children have MP3 players that are no larger than a box of matches. Pocket bikes are a good example of the motorbike following these same trends.

The bikes are basically a motorbike, shrunk down to the science of about 2 feet tall. This makes them extremely easy to store. You can put them in the corner of your garage, and they take up hardly any space at all. They are also easy to transport. If you have a decent sized car, they will even fit in the trunk. There are two different types of pocket bikes that you can get. You can get ones that are powered by gas or petrol, and you can also get ones that our electric. The gas powered pocket bikes tend to be a lot more powerful than the electric ones. Generally speaking, the bikes can reach speeds of up to 40 km an hour.

Pocket bikes are used for various reasons. For example, they are a great starting bike for your child. As mentioned previously, they are very easy to store and transport. They are also a lot safer than the larger dirt bikes. You can feel safe as a parent, knowing that your child is riding a pocket bike rather than a larger motorbike. The bikes are also used by adults for racing and for performing tricks such as jumps. They can also be of a great social benefit to you and your family. There are many community groups based around the pocket bike that meet on a regular basis to discuss their hobby, and to race with each other in specially modified bikes. Finally, they are a much cheaper option than a full-sized motorbike. If you shop around you should be able to pick up a pocket bike for under $1000, which makes it a very inexpensive gift.
